Eight People Died And Many Injured At Travis Scott’s Concert

Travis Scott’s festival turned into bloodshed when eight people were killed during a crowd surge. The Astroworld Festival, held in Houston, Texas, was cut short on the first day and canceled for the second day.

Over 50,000 people attended the Astroworld Festival held by Travis Scott and a lineup of other singers and rappers.

Among the singers invited are Master P, Yves Tumor, Toro y Moi, Roddy Rich, Lil Baby. Drake also made a surprise appearance.

Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pena recounted the story, “The crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage, and that caused some panic, and it started causing some injuries.”

It happened a little past 9 pm on the first day of the concert. The chief continued, “People began to fall out, become unconscious, and it created additional panic.”

23 people were taken to the hospital, and 11 people had a cardiac arrest. Eight people died as the cause of death hasn’t been released.

The youngest has been identified to be 14 years old, with the oldest being 27.

A field hospital was set up nearby at the NRG Park, and over 300 people had to be treated for injuries. The officials have also set up a reunification center for attendees and families to get in touch after losing contact in the middle of the concert.

The first of the concert saw hundreds of people flooding the entrance before running into the security area and metal detectors.

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, however, advises people against connecting the two incidents.

He told ABC123, “I think it’s very important that none of us speculate. Nobody has all the answers tonight. We’re going to do an investigation and find out because it’s not fair to the producers, to anybody else involved, until we determine what happened, what caused the surge.”

“We don’t know, but we will find out.”

So far, Travis Scott hasn’t commented on the incident yet.
