In honor of Pride Month, Michaela opened up about her sexuality, posting a couple of photos of herself in a “gay for you” baseball cap. One of the photos had featured the rainbow Pride flag and the pansexual flag in the background. “Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo is queer. Today I stand in my queer identity with pride.” The 23-Year-Old had said.
Governor Andrew Cuomo’s youngest daughter Michaela, 23, had come out as a queer in June.
A few days ago, in a discussion shared on Instagram, Michaela officially declared herself “Demisexual.” She claims to have always wished for a world where nobody will have to come out because everybody’s sexuality will be assumed fluid but in a world that force-feeds cisgender heterosexuality, coming out of the closet remains a lifelong process unpacking internalized social constructions and stigmas.
More recently, the college graduate declared herself ‘Demisexual’ during a discussion with Donato Tramuto.
“When I was in elementary school, I feared that I was lesbian. When I was in middle school, I came out to my family and close friends as bisexual. When I was in high school, I discovered pansexuality and thought, “That’s the flag for me.” And I’ve recently learned more about demisexuality and have believed that identity resonates with me most.” Michaela said during a Livestream with the former CEO of Tivity Health, Donato Tramuto.
Demisexual people only feel sexually attracted to someone when they have an emotional bond.
Michaela knew about her sexuality while in elementary school and had come out to her family as bisexual.
She mentioned that when she first came as queer, she was bothered she would be perceived as ‘attention-seeking; as it’s hip or cool to not be hetero in her liberal bubble. So far, Neither Governor Andrew Cuomo nor his ex-wife has publicly commented on their daughter’s decision. However, Michaela had shared a clip of herself rollerblading towards her mom while wearing her “gay for you” baseball cap just minutes before her now-viral post in June.
“When I was in high school, I discovered pansexuality and thought, ‘That’s the flag for me.”
Minutes before her queer identity post, Michaela shared a video of herself rollerblading with her mother, Kerry.
In the post, the Brown University Graduate, who majored in Education and Human Development with a focus on Social Inequality, offered support to others within the LGBTQ community, including anyone struggling to embrace their own sexual identity or speak out about it publicly in a society that “force-feeds us compulsive heterosexuality.” According to WebMD, Demisexual is defined as ‘people who only feel sexually attracted to someone when they have an emotional bond.”
Michaela, in a now-viral post, offered support to anyone struggling to embrace their own sexual identity.
The Brown University graduate during the pandemic was by her father’s side at numerous press conferences.
During the pandemic, Michaela had reportedly taken much more public roles. Her dad enlisted her assistance in encouraging younger people to adhere to safety guidelines and social distancing. In particular, she had attended several press conferences with her dad, where she spoke of her experiences amid the pandemic and urged millennials and GEN-Z to stop being reckless while causes soared. It turned out her role was well paid by Cuomo, who gave each of his three daughters $330,000 from the $5millon book deal he inked in 2020.
