15-Day-Old Boy Gets Exposed To Measles Due To Anti-Vaxxers

At the time, her kid Griffin was just 15-days old and too young to have actually been immunized. Kids typically get their very first measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) shot when they’re someplace in between 12 to 15 months of age. Till then, they need to count on the so-called herd resistance, indirect security from contagious illness that takes place when a big portion of a population has actually ended up being unsusceptible to infection, therefore supplying a step of security for people who are not immune. Ravaged and furious, Jennifer composed an effective Facebook post, and individuals rapidly rallied to her assistance. Scroll down to read her message which has actually been shared over 604K times, and let us your ideas on it in the remarks.

Luckily, after not showing symptoms of the virus during the incubation period, Griffin was declared healthy.

  1. My baby was born in Dec. We kept him away from coughing and sneezing people. He was 8 months old when we moved to rural Mississippi. He was one year old when he was exposed and developed whooping cough. My husband was pastoring a tiny church in even more rural Miss. We were quarantined in our small trailer for six weeks while he coughed his head off. He had had two whooping cough shots before we moved, but was late getting his last shot because of the move. The new children to whom he was exposed traditionally only started their shots when entering first grade. We were an hour away from the county health center, and there were no pediatricians any closer, even at the nearest health clinic. My son lived, had to have his tonsils removed at age two. He and my older son never contracted any of the childhood diseases for which vaccines were available, but many of their friends and classmates did, usually as toddlers. As a child, I was fortunate enough to get several vaccines as soon as they were developed, including polio, diphtheria, and whooping cough. But I already had whooping cough as an infant. Of measles, chicken pox, German measles, and others, my mother always said I brought home from school to my younger sisters except the Presidents pictures hanging on the walls. I missed six weeks of school in second grade, all for itchy diseases. My sisters caught everything I had and kept perfect attention in school, the middle sister through her senior year in high school. So I missed immunity for most childhood diseases by getting and recovering from them, but it was so painful that I can feel the achiness, fever, itching, and even delirium today, just in writing about it. One of our close bribers (my age) did get polio, and his legs never developed properly, and he was on crutches his whole life, until he died at age fifty. Please, please, get your children vaccinated and get your updated vaccinations when your health providers tell you about them. The childhood diseases are not a rite of passage. They are sometimes killers, too.

  2. At long last, someone who understands the sound medical advice given about vaccination and has not been browbeaten into denying it. I have been lucky and have never caught any of the dangerous illnesses during my working life whilst travelling the world but I have always been a pin cushion for every vaccine recommended. My long life may be seen as a proof of their effectiveness! Risk? There are far greater risks in everyday life than to be taken with vaccines. Protect yourself, and everyone else too.

  3. Because your baby is only 2 weeks old, maternal antibodies against measles transferred across the placenta are still working and he is protected
